The Seaweed Series is inspired by antique botanical illustrations and the beautiful organic shapes of the seaweed itself. Creating with clay is a multi-sensory, natural experience much like spending the day at the beach. Enjoy a beverage and think of the joy of exploring tide pools, finding treasures in the sand, and floating like the seaweed.

• The Seaweed Mug is a large, rounded mug with seaweed motifs (mug #1 and #2 are stamped with rockweed, kelp, and dulse - mug #3 is stamped with dulse only)

Samara Yandell is a Portland Maine based ceramic artist and middle school art teacher. Her work is inspired by the natural beauty of her home state of Maine. Samara creates multi-layered surface designs on dark stoneware using hand cut stencils, porcelain slip, underglaze washes, oxides, and high fire translucent glazes. The interplay between the positive / negative space and the depth of the surfaces makes for functional ceramics that are truly unique works of art.
